What Is Coaching?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.
Coaching is about helping people connect with their inner wisdom and helping them find clarity, make choices, and choose actions that move them forward. Coaches look at the present and help you make a shift towards the future.
Coaching used to be about telling and showing in a very direct way. We now look at coaching as a discovery aspect by asking questions in a non-directive way. Questions are judgement free. We don’t consult or give advice. Answers come from you. Coaching is about your agenda and what you want to discuss.
At times in our life we can feel stuck, have goals we are trying to achieve, and challenges that muddy the waters. Finding an effective coach can help you navigate your new path and will give you more meaning, purpose and fulfillment, professionally and personally.
